Not quite, it's a Kākā parrot. The kākā are sometimes confused with the kea which larger, olive-green rather than olive-brown, and only found in the South Island.

Thanks You are probably talking about the kea parrots in the South Island, they are known to do that. They are bigger than kākā and olive-green
